Wyndham Capital Mortgage was founded in 2001 out of two goals – to provide exceptional customer service and give people a great deal on their mortgage.  Founder and CEO Jeff Douglas saw the potential of an innovative digital experience in what was then a clunky, crowded and difficult process; so, he quit his corporate job and started working on the ‘way of the future’ from the spare bedroom of his fixer-upper home. Thus, WCM was born and the story begins. That being said, Jeff will tell you Wyndham Capital’s real origin story – and how Wyndham Capital has come to define ‘Fintech mortgage lending’ – really only begins less than a decade ago. While the company already provided great value, service and convenience to its customers, the move was made to start providing that same level of trust, technology and transparency to its employees as well.

And the way to achieve that? Augmented intelligence. The concept treats robots as aides to human intelligence rather than the next best thing to supersede it. Those robots assist team members in executing tasks to their highest caliber and ability. “Where before we had people at the beginning of our process assisting processors setting up our loans, doing orders of basic services, making sure our borrowers were added to all the right systems, we now have machines and robotic processes doing that for us,” says Jeff.

That evolution advanced Wyndham Capital’s positioning and level of service, catapulting the business from entrepreneurial venture to full-blown enterprise. And today, WCM is thriving better than ever, employing more than 500 tech, operations, corporate and sales professionals across four states with high hopes for the future and its successes. That 20 years of tenure translates into transparent and trustworthy mortgage experiences using industry-leading technology to save our customers time and money. Our Executive Team

Jeff Douglas

Chief Executive Officer

Jeff entered the mortgage industry in 1997 and in three years he was a top loan originator for a large, national mortgage lender. As a top online originator, his dedication to providing superior customer service was noticed. Jeff joined LendingTree in 2000 and began consulting with the highest caliber of online lenders in the country. While at LendingTree, Jeff realized there was a tremendous opportunity to serve clients better online. In 2001, Jeff launched Wyndham Capital Mortgage with the philosophy that better rates, lower fees and an easier process for clients could be achieved by leveraging technology. Within two years, Wyndham Capital was a top 10 lender out of over 150 LendingTree lenders. Jeff has maintained his core philosophy and expanded the company’s reach into other areas, with value, service, and convenience as major focal points. Jeff is not only obsessive about taking care of Wyndham Capital's customers, but also his employees.

Jeremy Abig

Chief Financial Officer

Jeremy began his career in the Finance Management Associate Program at Bank of America where, during his six years there, he rotated through several divisions. He left to attend the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. After graduate school, Jeremy worked at Wells Fargo Securities in Residential Mortgage and Consumer Structured Products. However, he wanted an opportunity with a smaller company that focused on exceeding the expectations of every customer by delivering a superior value. In November 2010, Jeremy joined Wyndham Capital as controller and a member of the executive management team. In August 2012, Jeremy won CFO of the Year from the Charlotte Business Journal. Jeremy is responsible for all areas of accounting, finance and treasury at the company and is dedicated to helping Wyndham Capital be one of the top retail mortgage originators in the nation.

Ben Cowen

President

Ben has seen many changes and cycles in the mortgage industry since the 1980s while holding leadership positions and leading mortgage banking businesses for regional and national lenders, including Bank of American and Citigroup. Ben has a proven track record of leading, creating and scaling every type of mortgage origination channel. He has excelled not just in origination volume, but also sustainability and profitability. At Wyndham Capital, Ben is enjoying the entrepreneurial freedom of working with Fintech, which is a non-bank mortgage company, and is focused on growing and expanding Wyndham Capital exponentially by leveraging changes in consumer preferences and evolving technology. He enjoys introducing innovation, such as robotics, to Wyndham Capital and establishing support processes to elevate sales.

Josh Hankins

Chief Operating Officer

Josh began his career in the mortgage industry in 2003 as a loan officer at Wyndham Capital. After being one of the top performing loan officers for two years, he moved into a sales management role where he spent more than a decade helping grow the sales force. Before transitioning to operations in November 2016, Josh created a division for loan officers with no previous mortgage experience. This division became our top producing sales division its first year. Josh’s obsession with finding a better way to generate results pairs well with the challenge of helping Wyndham Capital’s Operations Team evolve in the ever-changing mortgage industry. His vast sales experience gives him valuable insight as an operations leader who understands the importance of every loan and the impact individual experiences make on our clients and partners.

Mike Ciambotti

Chief Information Officer

Mike joined Wyndham Capital as the chief information officer in December 2020. He leads all aspect of technology, including application development, network and cyber engineering, help desk, business office and PMO functions. Prior to joining Wyndham Capital, Mike held several leadership roles in the Wells Fargo technology organization. Most notably, he served as the chief technology officer for the Home Lending Servicing Division. His hope for the future of Wyndham Capital is that it continues to be a disruptor in the industry by driving financial inclusion and making the process of originating a mortgage easier and more convenient to our customers and employees. Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in business communications, plus an associate’s degree in computer science, from Pennsylvania State University.

Angela Fumo

SVP of Human Capital

After graduating from Gardner-Webb University, Angela began her career in corporate financial services then moved to the mortgage industry. In 2012 at RoundPoint Mortgage, Angela gained experience and knowledge of the lending side of mortgage, moving up in the ranks and quickly earning a leadership role within the Operations Management Team. During her time at RoundPoint Mortgage, she also migrated to the servicing platform within the Risk Department and rounded out her overall knowledge of the mortgage lifecycle. Angela joined Wyndham Capital in 2016 to help build the Risk Department. She has worked with our Risk Department and Strategy Department focusing on workflow, project execution, and process efficiencies. In Human Capital, Angela continues to help employees be successful individually and together.

Trip Jendron

SVP of Corporate Strategy

Upon graduating from Hampden-Sydney College, Trip started his career in the online mortgage origination industry in 2003 at LendingTree as an account analyst. He was promoted to regional vice president of Lender Relations shortly thereafter. During his tenure at LendingTree, Trip worked directly with the largest internet-based lenders in the country to help them succeed with their online customer base, while growing their partnership and revenue. Trip worked as a director at Sparkroom, where he leveraged technology to consult with industry-leading online lenders and help them optimize their digital marketing efforts through quantitative analytics. Trip joined the team at Wyndham Capital in September 2009 as director of Marketing. After building the Marketing Department and helping the company to grow by more than 400%, Trip was promoted to the executive team as SVP of Corporate Strategy.

Trey Rigdon

SVP of Marketing

Trey started in the mortgage industry in 2009 helping grow a regional lender with 150 employees to one of the nation’s 10 largest retail mortgage lenders. In this position Trey lead marketing technology innovation for sales enablement and the digital borrower experience for borrowers, loan officers and real estate agents. He joined Wyndham Capital in October 2019 to lead Marketing. His strategy of developing emotionally engaging content, tools and applications for loan officers, marketing automation and unique branding has delivered remarkable results. Since starting at Wyndham Capital, Trey has grown the marketing pillar into an internal agency focusing on three core marketing practices: brand marketing, digital marketing, and sales enablement. Under Trey’s guidance, Wyndham Capital works toward being known as the prototype for the future modern lender.
